How Fantasy Kooks collects, uses, and protects your information.

Information We Collect
Account Information
When you register, we collect your email address and a username you choose. Your email is used for authentication and optional notifications only — it is never sold or shared with third parties.
Contest & Game Data
We store the teams you build, the surfers you pick, contest results, scores, and any bracket selections. This data is what powers your leaderboard standings and season history.
Usage Data
We may collect basic technical information such as your browser type, device type, and pages visited. This is used solely to improve app performance and is not linked to your identity.
Communications
If you contact us via the Help form, we retain your message and email address to respond to your inquiry.
How We Use Your Information
Running the App
Your account data and game data are used to operate Fantasy Kooks — logging you in, displaying your teams and scores, and calculating leaderboard rankings.
Contest Invitations & Notifications
We may use your email address to send you contest invitations from contest creators you are connected with, or important account notifications (e.g. password reset). You will not receive unsolicited marketing email.
Improving Fantasy Kooks
Aggregated, anonymised usage data helps us understand which features are used most and where performance can be improved. No personally identifiable information is used for this purpose.
Third-Party Services
Authentication
We use NextAuth.js for secure authentication. Your session is managed via encrypted, HTTP-only cookies. We do not store plaintext passwords — all passwords are hashed before storage.
Database
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Supabase. Supabase is SOC 2 Type II certified and encrypts data at rest and in transit.
Email Delivery
Transactional emails (password resets, contest invites) are sent via Resend. Only your email address and the content of the specific email are passed to Resend. Resend does not use this data for advertising.
Weather Data
We fetch surf condition data from the Stormglass API to display conditions for active events. No personal data is sent to Stormglass.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party, ever.
Leaderboards Are Visible to Contest Members
Your username and contest scores are visible to other authenticated users in contests you join. This is a core feature of the app. Your email address is never publicly visible.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or in response to a valid legal process such as a court order or subpoena.
Your Rights
Access & Correction
You can view and update your username and account details at any time from your Profile page.
Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time by contacting us. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
Data Portability
You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. Contact us via the Help page and we will provide it in a readable format.
